Porsche Taycan by Hennessey

Porsche unveiled the 2020 Taycan less than a month ago, but Hennessey has already announced it will become their first modified electric vehicle. The Texas-based tuner is keeping details under wraps, but CEO John Hennessey said “We felt that the new Porsche Taycan was the right platform from which to modify our first EV.”

He went on to say the modifications will be relatively minor as they’ll primarily be “simple” changes. John Hennessey didn’t go into specifics, but hinted these updates will include new tires and wheels as well as more aggressive front and rear bumpers. We can also expect some interior upgrades, but there’s no word on specifics.

While fans will likely be bummed the updates are cosmetic, Hennessey suggested that could change in the future. As he explained, later down the road “we will see what might be possible in terms of adding more power.”

Of course, fans will have to wait awhile was Hennessey won’t get their Taycan until 2020. However, it will be interesting to see what they come up with as Hennessey said “We don’t want to reinvent the wheel in the electrified market, we just want to make it roll a little faster and cooler!”

It remains unclear how much power a tuned Taycan could produce, but the standard Taycan Turbo has two electric motors that develop up to 671 hp. This enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds, hit a top speed of 260 km/h and travel up to 450 km on a single charge.

The Taycan Turbo S is even more extreme as it has a combined output of up to 751 hp. This cuts the 0-100 km/h to 2.8 seconds, but the stop speed remains unchanged at 260 km/h. The range also drops to 412 km.
